Loved Tokyo! A ton of people were even dressed up for Halloween! Better than the Castro IMO. Can’t wait to go back!
Finally heading to Tokyo in a few days. Nervously excited! Feels like this took forever when in reality I should of done it years ago. Coincidentally, timed it when Mari (Apsara) will be in Tokyo as well. Been emailing back and forth and she’s been very helpful with my first to Japan. Grateful to have met her and Rey several years back before their move away from San Francisco Bay Area. Can’t wait to see her, especially at her gigs including one at Womb Lounge! (RA link).
Even though this track’s background subway noise is from Osaka (on the radar for next year) and not Tokyo. Seems like I’m coming to the end of one compilation in my life with many more to go!
Lyndsay brought this up months ago and I wasn’t too lazy to attend PvD @ 1015 the day of. It was syrupy…
Per Taj’s request, some photos on my new Sony NEX-6 intended for traveling, not clubs!

I let one of my domains expire (rizo.ws) awhile back. Per several peoples request, fixed the links going to rizo.ws. If there are any others, just change the URL to gilbertrizo.com instead but think I got all of them…
Happy Birthday again to Nikita! Awesome party!
I’m so glad I got the ball rolling on his US debut gigs!!! Thanks to Taj and Incognito for getting on board! <3
I got Ricardo’s permission to record/broadcast his set as well and will be sharing it shortly
PS: There is a Ricardo Tobar vinyl party in the works in Santa Cruz once his Mi Pieza Está Llena De Cosas is released in early December.
Jennifer and I finally did our trip to see James Holden in LA then NYC. Holden was everything I expected live and def worth the trip esp for his LA gig where we met up with some friends. Wasn’t my favorite New York experience but Nathan Fake more than Holden made the festival worth it. Holden’s set was similar and shorter than his LA set as expected but I’m not disappointed and still enjoyed his set!
Used my new point and shoot camera, Canon SD940IS, so putting all the photos on facebook for now. Nice camera but sound quality for the video is crap…. hoping to still put something together from all the videos i took though.
Thanks to Chris for the above photo even though i look and was tired
Been meaning to add more stuff on here other than photos. I actually have a draft of my WMC 2009 review but never got around to finishing it… maybe I’ll go through it again and post it before WMC 2010 if I go. That’s up in the air right now esp since I want to visit Europe.
I’m not taking photos at all of these events. I might but it really depends on promoters permission, if I have my camera with me or if I’m even in the mood to take photos. They will be good parties though! Do check out the TranceAddict (TA) links even if you’re not a fan of trance, the community and non-trance discussions are great!
Friday September 4th
Incognito Proudly presents James Holden at King King Los Angeles
I missed Holden so many times before! Last time in SF it was on a Wednesday. Previous time he was in LA in 2007 I was hoping he would have an SF date last minute but I was wrong! Earlier this year he played in Montreal for Igloofest then at an after hours, didn’t go because friend didn’t have a passport. I’m usually pretty patient about things but really hoping to make it this time! I’m sure you can tell from my James Holden thread on TA: http://www.tranceaddict.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=481671 Will be great to see LATA and friends too! Need to figure which Border Community tee I should wear, the one that I made using Jenn’s bday drawing for me (pic) or the one that Jenn just made (pic). At least I have this one in mind for EZF in NYC, pic.
Sunday September 6th
Made presents Electric Zoo Festival New York
Have a flight Saturday at 7AM a bit after Incognito to New York. Catching Holden again along with Nathan Fake and others. Here’s the time slots of the DJ’s I would like to check out.
2:00-3:00 Junior Boys
2:15-4:30 Lindstrom & Prins Thomas
2:30-4:00 Menno de Jong
2:30-4:00 Guy Gerber
5:00-6:30 Adam Beyer
5:30-7:00 Desyn Masiello
7:00-8:00 Nathan Fake
7:30-9:00 Ferry Corsten
8:00-9:30 James Holden
9:30-11:00 Richie Hawtin
Menno and Corsten are def a maybe. Awesome people and DJs but I’ve seen them plenty of times and both will be in SF within the next two months. Will be great to see NY friends, creator of TA (Swamper), people I met at WMC 2009 and others that are not from SF and have met before in person or known them online for awhile.
Friday September 11th
Helix (DNA Lounge): Lahbug, Friesen, Means+Function and Lyndsay!
Supporting friends and first time going to DNA… ya I still haven’t been to DNA! Only time I recall wanting to go was when Zabiela played there long ago but couldn’t make it.

(Unofficial) Decompression party at 1015 w/ Hac Le, Jaime James & Barclay Spring, Icon
Unofficial but some of the DJ’s and attendees will be coming back from Burning Man. Icon headlining the main room. Hac Le extended set along with a tag team by Jaime James & Barclay Springs and me opening things up in the room upstairs! Its going to be something unusual and FUN for the room ! Oh its not going to be full on prog and got the flyer fixed but just to quote Desyn Masiello: “is it minimal? is it prog? is it house? no its miniprogtechhousefunkno!”
Email or message me on facebook, myspace, or sms for free before 11PM guest list. I play at 10PM-11PM so get there before guest list closes!
